Advices for exterior

Blistering

DESCRIPTION:
Bubbles resulted from loss of adhesion and lifting of the paint film from the support surface.

CAUSES:

  • Application of paints on wet surfaces
  • Application of a paint before the substrate is dried (especially when successive layers have been applied over time)
  • Exposing the emulsified paint film to high moisture or moisture immediately after the paint has dried, especially if the surface to paint has not been properly prepared

SOLUTION:
It is important to remove the cause of moisture. The affected areas are allowed to dry in order not to damage the subsequent layers of paint. The remediation solution for bubbles differs depending on the degree of surface damage. If the bubbles do not reach the support and are only in the paint layer, they can be removed by the wire brush or by scraping with a spatula depending on the nature of the paint and the substrate. The surface is sanded, scraped off, repaired if necessary with putty and properly prepared to apply the paint. If the substrate is affected, the affected layer must be removed and repaired. After total and deep drying of the surface, the surface is sanded, plastered and primed, the final step being the application of the paint.
