DESCRIPTION:
Formation of a fine powder on the surface of the paint film in the face of exposure to weathering which can cause slight color loss. Although some chalking is normal, excessive erosion of the film may result from creasing.
CAUSES:
- Using a paint for interior for an outdoor application
- Application of the paint on a porous substrate, without previous priming
SOLUTION:
Application in the exterior of products clearly intended for interior should be avoided. Products intended for exterior have higher resistance to dirt, weathering and UV. Chalking comes as a “response” to poor preparation of the substrate. First remove as much as possible from the chalking residues by scraping with a scrubber and wash very well afterwards. Check for possible rests of chalk, wiping with a black cloth on the surface after it dried.
Use wall primer EVRIKA as first coat, for pores filling and apply 1 – 2 coats of EVRIKA washable for exterior, with silicone which is a barrier against humidity and dirt, giving facades beauty and resistance over time or use Evrika Pro ultra washable, paint of I class of washability having high resistance to washing cycles, weathering and UV.
