Curl

DESCRIPTION:
A hard surface, curled, which appears when paint builds up a “skin”.

CAUSES:

  • Paint was applied in too thick coat (more likely when using alkyd paints)
  • Painting in extremely hot weather or wet heat condition, which causes the paint film to dry faster on top, than on the support side
  • Exposing uncured paint to too high humidity levels
  • Applied paint that is incompatible with the paint that was originally applied

SOLUTION:
Consider the film thickness recommended in the technical sheet of the product, when applying. If applied in thick layer, the paint tends to curl. Curled surface will be sanded and polished. Environment temperature must be 15-30 Celsius degrees when applying coatings. To avoid any problem, we recommend fast drying coatings anticorrosive primer EVRIKA and fast drying enamel.
